Well once upon a wilderness in Canaan's promise land
God revealed to Abraham the judgment he had planned
For the wicked fallen people there who lived there in the bale
He was going to rain a city wide with brimstone and hail
(Verse 2)
Now looking over Sodom with a clear unhindered view
Abraham stepped forward to ask God if he ought to
Pointing out the chance that there might be an upright man
Living there is Sodom dear old Abraham began
(Chorus)
Would you give them one more chance father please
For I know they've sinned against your just decrees
But if there's 50 righteous men
would you stop and think again
would you spare that city down below (down below)
would you spare that wicked city down below
(Verse 3)
Well the mighty Lord agreed to this and said he'd stay his hand
If the said amount of righteous men were living in the land
So encouraged by this guarantee and found mercy kind
Abraham went further still for his changed his mind
(Chorus)
Would you give them one more chance father please
For I know they've sinned against your just decrees
But if there's 40 righteous men
would you stop and think again
would you spare that city down below (down below)
would you spare that wicked city down below
(Verse 4)
This request was granted surely mighty God had spoken true
He'd forgive them all the folly if he found a holy few
But Abraham protested there might be a couple less
Please don't be angry if I make another guess
(Chorus)
Would you give them one more chance father please
For I know they've sinned against your just decrees
But if there's 30, 20, 10
would you stop and think again
would you spare that city down below (down below)
would you spare that wicked city down below
(Bridge)
Well nowadays it seems we can do just as we please
An no one's gonna stop us now or force us to our knees
It seems like we've forgotten that the God of Cannan's land
Is still the judge in heaven holding mercy in His hand
(Outtro)
So would you give us one more chance father please
For I know we've sinned against your just decrees
But if save these broken men
We'll rise up to walk again
would you save this city down below (down below)
would you save this wicked city down below
